About Marlene
Meet the Mind Behind the Movement
I created Marlene is Key because housing, mental health, and community support are deeply connected. As a mother, social worker, and real estate professional, I’ve seen how overwhelming these systems can feel. My mission is to provide the education and ethical advocacy people need to move forward with confidence and dignity.
Born in Chile, I moved to New York with my family in 1993 and remain proud of my heritage. I met my husband, Daniel Patti, at Newfield High School and developed a strong work ethic early on, starting my first job at age 16. I earned my Associate degree from Suffolk Community College and my Bachelor’s from Stony Brook University in 2009. While home with my two sons, my son Frankie was diagnosed with autism—an experience that redefined my path and sparked a lifelong commitment to advocacy.
Since 2018, I have been a licensed real estate salesperson with Signature Premier Properties, a member of LIBOR, and a certified NYS Real Estate Instructor. In 2024, I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Stony Brook University, specializing in Community, Policy, and Political Social Action.
Today, I live in Selden with Dan, our sons Frankie and Tommy, and our pets. I also serve as a Mental Health First Aid Trainer with the Association for Mental Health and Wellness. I am here to help you feel informed and empowered—because everyone deserves the opportunity to go out there and live!
